Ex-Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed hospitalized at 99
Ex-Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed, 99 years old has been hospitalized in Kula Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Mahathir will stay in hospital for a few days after being brought to the National Heart Institute (IJN).
He was rushed to IJN after suffering from a continuous cough on July 15. His spokesperson Sufi Yusoff announced the admission of Mahathir in IJN today. However, he did not reveal any other information about Mahathir’s health condition.
However, it is significant to note that ex-Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed has a history of cardiac issues and has been hospitalized several times. He had already experienced COVID-19. He also spent 53 days in the hospital earlier this year due to an unidentified infection.
On the other hand, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is looking into several people, including Mahathir Mohamed for asset disclosure issues.
Mahathir has served as Prime Minister of Malaysia twice totaling his reign era of about 25 years. He became prime minister for the first time in 1981 and continued his premiership for 23 years until 2003.
Then, after leading the opposition coalition to a historic election victory in 2018, his party Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia made him prime minister at 92 age for the second time.

However, internal conflicts caused his government to fall apart in less than two years. Hence, it resulted in his premature departure as prime minister in 2020. His first and second-term premiership made him the only long-serving Malaysian prime minister.
After leaving his tenure as prime minister in 2020, he also served as interim prime minister of Malaysia. He enrolled in King Edward VII College of Medicine to study medicine from 1947-1953.
Mahathir has a spouse Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, 68 years old. He has seven children including Marina, Mukhriz, Mokhzani, Mirzan, Mazhar, Maizura, and Melinda.
