Croatia nursing home shooting killed at least five people
A gunman entered a private nursing home for elders in the town of Daruvar, Croatia, and started shooting open gunshots which killed at least five people. Daruvir is about 75 miles east of the capital Zagreb.
The shooter opened fire on the people who were present at the care home. As a result, five people died immediately while many injured people are unknown.
According to local Croatian media, rescue personnel shifted the injured people to a hospital for medical treatment. The gunman first escaped the crime scene but later law enforcement officials arrested him near a cafe.
Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic expressed shock at the death of five people in a nursing home firing on his Twitter X. He sent his sympathies to the victim’s families and wished for speedy recovery of injured people.
Andrej also stated their capable law enforcement agencies would investigate every detail surrounding this horrific incident. He also mentioned that the ministers of health, social policy, and deputy prime minister of Croatia, Davor Bozinovic are traveling to Daruvar town in the aftermath of a shooting incident.

Croatian media reported that the shooter was a 51-year-old former fighter and policeman who participated in the 1991-95 war in Croatia. He is also a relative of one of the nursing home’s residents in Daruvar town.
Some media channels reported the shooter was the son of his mother, a resident of a nursing home. He reportedly opened straight fire at everyone after shooting his mother.
However, law enforcement officials of Daruvar stated the suspect is under supervision. They are investigating the motive behind the shooting at a nursing home in Croatia.
