Brazilian influencer Kat Torres jailed for eight years in sex trafficking case
A Brazilian court jailed Instagram influencer Kat Torres for eight years after being found guilty of female slavery and sex trafficking. Kate became famous due to her inspirational story of overcoming poverty in her Brazilian community.
Another factor of her socialization with Hollywood superstars rose her to prominence. She was also rumored to be the girlfriend of iconic star Leonardo DiCaprio.
She appeared in well-known Brazilian TV series and reputed magazines. However, the recent conviction has really surprised people around the world.
According to the FBI’s investigation, two of the women who lived with her disappeared in 2022. Their investigation revealed horrible facts about Kat.
Several women accused Kat of trafficking and selling them into slavery. They have spoken out about their horrific experiences.
The old roommate of Kat, Anna, claimed the accused influencer first exposed her to the hallucinogenic drug ayahuasca through her friends in Hollywood.
According to the victim, Kate became a life coach using this drug and built a health business and subscription service to provide clients the love, money, and self-esteem that they always dreamed of.
She also created self-help videos in which she gave guidance on several subjects and paid $150 for private video consultations.
Another victim Anna arrived in New York in 2019 to work as her live-in assistant to leave behind an abusive relationship and a violent upbringing. She was forced to sleep on a sofa stained with cat poop. She experienced utterly unclean living circumstances there.
Kate never paid for her labour although she was available at her service. Following this, she escaped her slavery. However, she had hired her for a $2000 salary.
After the escape of Anna, Kat employed two more women, Leticia and Desirre. She forced Desirre into working at a nearby strip club in a matter of weeks. She also used witchcraft on her.
However, she did not allow Leticia to talk with Dessire. They needed permission to go anywhere, even the washroom. After a while, Kat forced Dessire to become a prostitute in exchange for high-income targets.
She also threatened her to sleep on the streets if she did not fulfill her demands. Later, the family and friends of both women started searching for them on social media in September 2023.

Following this, Kat forced them to make a video and deny they were not her captives and stopped their family from looking for them. Later, an FBI investigation exposed her crimes and recovered both victims.
Dessire and Leticia are currently going through psychiatric counseling to move past their bitter experiences where Kat scammed them and took advantage of them.
20 more women have come out with their testimonies against Kat as a result of this investigation. Hence, a Brazilian court jailed influencer Kat Torres for eight years.
