Bomb blast in Kabul killed one and injured several people

A bomb blast happened in the capital suburb of Afghanistan, Kabul which left one person dead and injured eleven. The explosion occurred in the western Kabul area of Dasht-i-Barchi which is home to a large number of Shias.

The Shia population has historically faced persecution in Afghanistan where the Islamic State (IS) organization views them as infidels. IS is also an Arabic acronym for Daesh.

The Kabul-based Emergency International humanitarian organization provided medical assistance to blast victims. They claimed to have received eight people including three women and one deceased.

One Afghani died and eleven received injuries

A police spokesperson Khalid Zardan stated an IED (Improvised explosive device) was placed on a minibus. Khalid said their investigation is underway.

Even though one claimed responsibility for the bomb blast in Kabul. The Afghan branch of the Islamic State, IS-Khorasan is believed to be involved in the explosion of Dasht-i-Barchi.

There have been significantly fewer fatal attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control of the country in August 2021. It resulted in war prohibition between Taliban and Western forces but certain armed organizations such as Daesh were still an existential threat to Afghan people.

However, the Taliban government’s spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid called concerns of Western nations about Daesh and other terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan “baseless” and “propaganda.”

Khalid emphasized that the Taliban government has total control over the territory of Afghanistan and that no internal nor international illegal organizations have permits to operate there.

According to Khalid, Afghanistan has fought a fierce battle against the Daesh members and destroyed their headquarters in the country.

Afghan security personnel are keeping an eye on the remaining two percent. Hence, the existence of Daesh does not threaten the sovereignty of Afghanistan and its people.
