Alternative Bank launched electric tricycles for Kano women
Alternative Bank launched the “Kano Women Go Electric” scheme to provide pollution-free electric tricycles to women in the entire state. This scheme type is launching in Kano state for the first time, empowering women and promoting a greener future.
Alternative Bank has launched this social impact initiative in collaboration with Qoray Mobility and the UK government’s Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
They have started this initiative with 120 women from the Mata Zalla Women Cooperatives and Yar Baiwa Women Cooperatives. They have also given these women electric tricycles and trained them to use tricycles to empower more women who will join this scheme.
The program has also provided cooperatives with a two-year lease for service centers and recharge batteries infrastructure.
Executive Director of Alternative Bank, Alhaji Graba Mohammed, said this project is a double win. Their electric tricycles will address major concerns about the safety of female passengers and children. It will also protect the environment simultaneously.
According to Alhaji, Alternative Bank has launched environmentally friendly electric tricycles. It will lower carbon emissions and support a cleaner and healthier environment than conventional petrol-powered tricycles.
However, the women of Kano State can apply to register for this scheme on the official bank website. Click here to visit this link and follow the instructions to complete the registration process.

Traditional tricycles cause pollution and high running expenses because of increasing petrol prices. Alternative Bank also stated they are committed to environmental responsibility and community well-being.
Adam Maikano is the Regional Coordinator of the FCDO for Kaduna and Kano states. He emphasized the broader effects of this scheme. He said the UK government is a long-standing ally of Nigeria. They are facilitating investment, trade, and economic development in Nigeria.
Adam also said this scheme’s startup is proof of effective collaboration when everyone stays committed to the same objective.
