YouTuber Ms. Rachel faced backlash for Gaza fundraising campaign
Famous Kids YouTuber Rachael Gryphon Accurso, popular as Ms. Rachel, faced backlash online for her Gaza fundraising campaign. She has been the target of internet abuse from pro-Israeli supporters since announcing her campaign for kids in Gaza and other conflict areas.
Ms. Rachel has 9.73 million YouTube subscribers and 2 million Instagram followers. She opened her fundraiser on May 12, 2024. She emphasized that every penny of the contributions would benefit the humanitarian organization Save the Children, which works for children’s goodwill.
Ms. Rachel posted an emotional Instagram reel while wiping her tears. She explained the unfavorable responses to her fundraising efforts. She also revealed people said mean things to her as they accused her of not caring about all children in her video.
Rachel said bullying from people was so bad for her fundraising campaign but, she can handle this bullying. She also said she loves all children, including her neighbor.
Rachel urged bullying people to imagine for one second the struggles of a mother who could not provide for her child’s basic needs. Such as food, pure water, or safety. She said the campaign is for those children who don’t have access to food or water. They are dying from starvation and they are humans.
She also emphasized her message by stating that she deeply cares for all the children in her video. It also included Palestinian children, Israeli children, children in the US, Muslim, Jewish, and Christian children, all children in every country. She excludes no one.
This video of Ms. Rachel has received more than 200,000 likes on her Instagram account. Ms. Rachel is one of the few remarkable online creators who have started similar fundraising campaigns to help Gaza children.
However, several pro-Israeli supporters are finding her fundraising campaign against them, and hence YouTuber Ms. Rachel, faced widespread backlash.
Israel’s military attack has closed down several critical points for food and medical aid supplies to Palestinians amid the crisis in Gaza. According to the UN humanitarian agency, around 7,797 children have died.
