Shahid Kapoor feels like an outsider in Bollywood despite his father being an actor. He revealed it in an interesting segment from the Pinkvilla Masterclass conducted by Himesh Mankad.
Kapoor told Mankad that he still feels like an outsider even though his father Pankaj Kapoor is an actor. But he never told anybody that Pankj was his dad. He lived a lot in Delhi and he came to Bombay in later life. His father told him that “Beta maine kabhi kisi ko nahi bataya ki mere father kaun hai, toh tum kyu bologe. Kaam se dikhao. Let your work prove to people that you are worthy. Not your name.”
Furthermore, he mentioned that he comes from a family involved in acting, but his father was the first actor in the family. He went on to reveal that his grandfather, his dadaji, was a college professor who wholeheartedly supported his father’s decision. His dadaji had an amazingly open mind for that time, allowing his father to come to Bombay and pursue a career as an actor. At first, It was as if he said, “What are you talking about?” but later on he supported him, and his father pursued his dream.
So, Shahid kept in mind the advice of his father when came to Bombay. He established his career and he never told anybody about his father in the early days of his career. Therefore, Shahid Kapoor feels he is still an outsider in Bollywood despite his father being a Bollywood actor.
