North West Serial Rapist received 11 life sentences for 65 counts
A North West serial rapist, Johannes Ontsheketse Tshabile, has received 11 years life sentence in jail for 65 counts by Klerksdorp Regional Court. North West is a province in South Africa.
The Klerksdorp Regional Court found Johannes guilty on all 65 counts. His counts described the horrible crimes that he committed to his victims in the small town of Maquassi in the West.
Henry Mamothame is a spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority of North West province. He said Johannes would attack women on the street, drag them into grasslands, rob and rape them at knifepoint for six years.
According to John, serial rapist Johannes committed these crimes from Dec 2013 to May 2018. Sometimes Johannes would first attack the person they were walking with, then rape and rob the women. He would also strangle, stab with a knife, and assault with bricks and other objects before robbing and raping his victims in some instances.
The victims of Johannes who survived are between 15 and 65 years old. Police caught Johannes in 2019, but with the help of another cop, he got out of the Wolmaransstad Police Station.

The charges against Johannes include rape, sexual assault, violence, and robbery with worsening conditions. Prosecutor Riekie Krause told Judge Tebogo Djadje about the victims’ continued physical, emotional, and mental torture. He also revealed in court that North West Serial Rapist Johannes tortured his victims to such an extent that one of the women begged him to be locked up for life.
Hence, Judge Tebogo found Johannes a heartless man who scared people in the community for six years. In this regard, she gave him eleven life sentences and 363 years imprisonment.
Moreover, she praised Sergeant Pule Morake for his efforts to catch Johannes. Sergeant Pule was in charge of investigating the case. He also appreciated the Sexual Offenses and Community Affairs unit for giving sexual offense cases a top priority.
