Anjum Khan accused BJP leader Nazia Elahi of blasphemy
Indian actress and wife of Indian cricketer Shivam Dube, Anjum Khan accused BJP leader Nazia Elahi Khan of blasphemy. Anjum spread a sensation on social media while posting about Nazia on her Instagram on August 12, 2024.
Anjum called for the arrest of Nazia on her personal Instagram story and also urged Muslims to take action against her. She accused her of making false statements and spreading misinformation about the sacred Muslim personality, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
Anjum wrote in her story while addressing the Muslim community that if they are not offended by the disrespect shown to Prophet Muhammad, then their conscience is dead.
On the other hand, if they still feel disrespect strongly, they could repost this with the hashtag “Arrest Nazia Elahi Khan.” Hence, she request all to take action against her.
Anjum said Nazia first used to speak against Muslims and now she is talking against Prophet. So, the time has come to raise a voice against her.
Since her post, many netizens started sharing her story and spreading outrage among Muslims for the alleged disrespect of the prophet. Meanwhile, many internet users condemned Anjum’s remarks as they considered this move as an incitement to violence against Nazia.
However, Anjum removed her post after a few hours of it went viral on social media. It is significant to note that Anjum Khan accused BJP leader Nazia Elahi of blasphemy after she gained fame for her support on behalf of triple talaq victim Ishrat Jehan.
Ishrat Jehan was a Kolkata-based Muslim resident whose ex-husband called from Dubai to give her talaq three times instantly. Afterward, he remarried someone else soon. Following this unjust act, Ishrat fought an instant divorce case for which Nazia showed support.
Nazia is a member of BJP’s minority cell. She emphasizes that she is a vocal advocate for Muslim women’s rights. She is also against behaviors that discriminate religious practices against them.
However, Nazia retaliated against Anjum in the aftermath of blasphemy charges on August 13, 2024 night. She called on Anjum by saying she married a Hindu man which is against Shariah (Islamic law).
Moreover, she said Anjum has brought up false, provocative, and fabricated posts to encourage violence and hatred against her.
