Quilici fire outbreak burned 300 acres & left 28000 homes without power

The Quilici fire outbreak near Truckee town burned 300 acres of land and left more than 20 thousand homes without electricity close to the California-Nevada border.

The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) reports a car caught fire close to the California-Nevada state line. It resulted in a massive fire outbreak in Quilici at around six o’clock on Sunday evening.

According to TMFPD, the fire outbreak caused hours-long delays for traffic on Interstate 80 eastbound off Highway 267 in Truckee. Instead, it has opened traffic for alternate route 180 westbound.

A car fire forced hundreds of car drivers to come to a stop along Interstate 80. It has spread to surrounding bushes near Gold Ranch Casino and soon turned into a major wildfire.

Fire rescue authorities set up an evacuation area at 2325 Robb Drive, which is located in Northwest Reno Library. The County Sheriff of Washoe is helping people get out of the fire zone in the Quilici Ranch Road area.

It began many hours after a late Sunday fire in Truckee spread quickly to other parts. Rescue officials raised concern that the car fire outbreak spread to vegetation and since then has grown to 400 acres of land.
