Veteran Kenyan journalist Mutegi Njau died in Nairobi

Veteran Kenyan journalist Mutegi Njau died at a Nairobi Hospital on June 27, 2024, in evening time at 7 p.m. His family announced his death in a statement. The son of Mutegi, Ronald Njau, said they were informed with deep sadness about the death of his father.

According to Ronald, his father was an incredible man whose intellectuality, sense of humor, and devotion to his journalism career left a long-lasting impact on everyone he met. He was not only the backbone of their family, but also a significant figure in their community.

Kenyan journalist David Makali also announced that veteran journalist Mutegi Njau died. He recalled him as his former colleague who left a legacy of mentoring others.

David expressed devastation to know about the death of Mutegi. He wished for his long-lasting memory among those whom Mutegi mentored and motivated.

Njeri Rugene is the Communication Strategist and Head of the Deputy Presidential Communication Service (DPCS). He paid tribute to Njeri saying he left a deep impact on Kenyan Journalism. He called Mutegi a “legend” who trained many new journalists.

The deceased’s family also appealed to friends and fans of Mutegi to remember them in their thoughts and prayers. It also expressed gratitude to everyone for supporting them.

His family also revealed that it is arranging the funeral ceremony of Mutegi. They will share its details within the next day or two.

However, Mutegi Njau died after suffering from a stroke. His son Ronald Njau appealed on June 10 for financial support for the medical treatment of Mutegi.

He stated his father suffered a stroke two weeks ago and has been in intensive care. Their family was facing financial challenges to accommodate the medical expenses of Mutegi. Hence, they would be grateful for any financial help anyone can offer.

However, stroke is a disease that occurs when blood flow to your brain is stopped or disrupted. The exact age of dead Mutegi is unknown.
