Massive protest in Iran one year after Mahsa Amini’s death, she was a strong lady who is aka Jina Amini. Mahsa Amini died in a hospital on 16 September 2022.

Videos are circulating on social media of protests in multiple cities in Iran such as Mashad, Ahvaz, Arak, and the capital city Tehran. The girls in the protest held cards of pictures of “Mahsa Amini” and chanting for the freedom of women.

Protesters chanted against the Iranian government in favor and support of Mahsa Amini. Hundreds of people came out in support of her around the globe. Many women came forward in Turkey for the support of Mahsa Amini.

“We want to let everyone know that this is not going to finish, our battle has just started and we are not going to stop until the freedom of Iran,” a female protester in London told CNN.

A few days before her death, Mahsa Amini was captured by Iran’s morality police for allegedly not wearing the hijab or headscarf properly. As per reports, the law enforcement command of Iran stated that she had a heart attack at the police station. After the heart attack, she fell into a coma before being transferred to a hospital. However, there were witnesses who were detained with Mahsa claiming that she was brutally beaten to death in police custody.

Amini’s death resulted in a series of widespread protests, in Iran and across the globe and it was the largest protest since 2009, reported by CNN and The New York Times.
