Lionel Messi revealed plans to retire ahead of Copa America 2024
Football star Lionel Messi revealed plans to retire as he is busy leading his team Argentina at Copa America 2024. Copa America will start on June 21, 2024, with a match between Inter-Miami (Argentina) and Canada.
Argentina defeated Ecuador by 1-0 last week under the captainship of Messi the previous week. It was the first match of Lionel Messi in six months. He also captained Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Football giant joined Inter-Miami in the summer of 2023 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. He thinks Inter-Miami will be his last club. Inter-Miami (MLS) is a US-based football club. His contract with MLS is to 2025 with an option of one more year.
There were assumptions that he would return to his home country to end his career, most likely with Newell’s Old Boys. He began his training as a child in this club at Rosario.
However, Lionel Messi revealed plans to retire while giving an interview to ESPN. He said he believed Inter-Miami would be his last club. It was a difficult step to leave Europe to come here.

He also said becoming a world champion was extremely beneficial, as he was seeing things from a fresh perspective. But he does not think about it and rather tries to enjoy it. That is why, he loves everything a lot better, since he is conscious that there is less to go and he is having fun.
Lionel Messi is a 36-year-old Argentinian footballer with massive distinction in the international football field. He is the only footballer to score the highest number of goals, with 372 in football history.
He won UEFA four times. UEFA refers to the Union of European Football Associations. He is currently serving as captain of the Inter-Miami Football Club and the National Argentina Football Team.
