Irfan Pathan backlashes Pakistan fans for trolling India’s defeat
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan backlashes Pakistan fans for trolling the defeat of India in the Under-19 World Cup against Australia. India lost to Australia by 79 runs in the U19 World Cup 2024.
Irfan expressed anger when numerous Pakistani cricket fans turned to social media to mock India for their third consecutive loss to Australia in an ICC tournament final.
Irfan Pathan backlashes cricket fans from Pakistan on the microblogging platform X using the hashtag Padosi. He criticized their mocked comments. He also said trolling a neighboring country shows a negative image of Pakistan as a whole nation.
Irfan wrote keyboard warriors from over the border take joy in the humiliation of young players of neighboring country India despite their U19 team’s failure (Pakistan) to reach the final. This pessimistic attitude reflects negatively on the national thinking.

Irfan used the hashtag padosi, which has been around since the 2022 T20 World Cup Final when he used it to mock Pakistan fans following the group stage victory of India against Pakistan. This match took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Virat Kohli led a thrilling chase against the Pakistan team in that match.
Since then, many Pakistani cricket fans have adopted the same hashtag to troll Irfan Pathan and the Indian Cricket team overall. There was no exception on Sunday, Feb 11, 2024.
However, India went undefeated in the group stages of two ICC tournaments in three months before losing in the final. However, in both final matches, India faced their traditional rivalry from the side of Pakistan. Before losing the U-19 World Cup, India had also lost to Australia in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 finals.
Australia outperformed India in the final U19 World Cup 2024 yesterday. The Australian bowling attack worked to bring down the strong Indian batting lineup. Hence, Australia successfully defended their 253 runs, which allowed them to win by 79 runs. This is the highest score in the history of the U19 World Cup.
