David Warner retired from International cricket after Australia’s exit
Australian cricketer star David Warner retired from International cricket after Australia exited from T-20 World Cup 2024. Australian Cricket Board has confirmed the news of his retirement.
This retirement comes after Afghanistan’s most recent victory against Bangladesh in the T-20 World Cup 2024. It eliminated Australia from competition in the Super 8 round as it lost to India. India defeated Australia by 27 runs in yesterday’s match. Hence, it was his last career match.
David’s colleague Josh Hazlewood said before the Afghanistan and Bangladesh match that the result of this particular match would determine the association of David with the team.
Josh stated nothing had been said yet. They will wait until after the AFG vs BAN game. However, it has been amazing to play with David. They will sincerely miss his presence on and off the field as a teammate.
Another Aussie cricket Travis Head stated it would be disappointing for David’s career to end. He passed this statement at a press conference before Australia’s World Cup elimination from the tournament.
Travis said the team would be upset if the career of David ends like that. His contributions to Australian cricket at the top of the order in all formats have received widespread attention.
According to Travis, David is one of their best multi-format players. He could say plenty of things about how good David has been at the top of the order.
David had already hinted that the ongoing super tournament would be his last. He played his final ODI in November’s World Cup final win over India. However, his last Test match was against Pakistan in January 2024.
He has played in 110 T20 International innings with a strike rate of 142.27. He scored 3,277 runs with one century and 28 half-centuries. David Warner, a 37-year-old retired from all formats of cricket after playing for 15 years.
