Australian Women’s Cricket Team Captain Meg Lanning retires from International Cricket. Today she announced her international retirement saying she no longer has the spark to do what needs to happen at this level.

She got emotional while making her retirement speech at Melbourne Cricket Ground. She feels like now she has got nothing left to achieve on the international stage.

Meg Lanning’s international career has ended, and the cricket world has paid respect to her for her 13-year outstanding international cricket career.

How did Meg make her extraordinary cricket career?

Meg made her international debut in 2010 at the age of 18 and became the youngest Australian to score a century in a one-day international with her unbeaten 103 runs against England. She was a member of Australia’s teams that won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and the 50-over title in 2013 before becoming captain in 2014 at the age of 21.

Meg in her era of extraordinary achievements contributed to seven winning World Cups. She scored seventeen international centuries and she led the Australian Women’s Cricket Team as captain in 182 matches.

According to Meg, she has no longer the spark or passion to achieve what needs to be done at this level. Thus, she thinks it is time for her to move on.

She said she can’t be half-in or half-out of something. And she thinks that’s where she has ended up with this decision. Furthermore, she said that I have accomplished so much in the game. She has been fortunate to have such a successful career. And be a member of so many successful teams.

Meg Lanning is taking retirement at the age of 31. However, she will continue to compete in domestic cricket. It includes the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League with the Melbourne Stars. And for Victoria in the Women’s National Cricket team.
