All 3 Hughes brothers play in same game as Devils top Canucks
All 3 Hughes brothers Quinn, Jack, and Luke play in the same game for the opposing ice hockey team, the New Jersey Devils, against the Vancouver Canucks. They all are the best players in the National Hockey League (NHL).
However, the New Jersey Devils won the match against the Hughes brothers of Canucks the previous night and defeated Canucks by 6-5.
Jack Hugles made a goal and two assists while his younger brother Luke Hughes scored on a power play. Quinn Hughes had two third-period assists as Canuck recovered from three goals behind to level the game.
Vancouver Canucks vs New Jersey Devils
After the win of the Devils, Jack said Quinn and Luke both performed well in his opinion. It was a lot of fun to play with them.
The Hughes brothers fell short of being the first group of three siblings in nearly 40 years to score a goal in the same game. The three Stastny brothers all scored for the Quebec Nordiques against New Jersey on Dec 8, 1984. Marian, Anton, and Peter were Stastny brothers. However, Hughes has secured 53 NHL points in a match against the Devils.
The Canucks’ J.T. Miller had a power-play goal and an assist. Vancouver also got goals from Brock Boeser, Nils Hoglander, Sam Lafferty, and Dakota Joshua.
Luke and Jack Hughes teamed for the only goal of the second period. It gave the Devils a lead of 5-2. The Devils lead 4-2 following a chaotic first period in which both sides scored three goals in less than six minutes. They exchanged goals 58 seconds apart as time ran out.
Jesper Bratt scored his second goal of the night with 34 seconds left in the third period. It lifted the New Jersey Devils to a 6-5 victory against the Vancouver Canucks in a game that resembled a rivalry although the teams are from different regions.
Three brothers played in the same game for the ninth time in NHL history. The last time Eric and Marc Staal of the Florida Panthers faced Jordan Staal of the Carolina Hurricanes occurred on April 13.
