Ahmed Nael Qureshi reached ITF Junior 2024 quarterfinals
Ahmed Nael Qureshi reached ITF Pakistan Zainab Ali Naqvi Memorial World Junior Championship Leg-II 2024, held at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex. This event honors Zainab Ali Naqvi, a talented young tennis player whose life was brutally cut short last week in Islamabad.
The local and international tennis communities gathered at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex to start this event in Islamabad. The local Pakistani tennis player, Ahmed Nael Qureshi, reached the ITF World Junior Championship 2024 quarterfinals.
Ahmed Nael was up by 3-0 tennis points versus Makarov from Russia. Later, Makarov was forced to leave the tennis game due to injury. Ahtesham Humayun, a Pakistani player, also participated in the match. He was also ahead by 4-0 points against IIlya Kryukov, a Russian tennis player. IIlya also left the game due to illness.
Boy’s singles pre-quarterfinals
- Jacob Kailing Shen from Hong Kong defeated Xiuyuan Guo (China) by 4-6, 6-4, 6-1
- Jiwan Park from Korea beat Doruk Elbirlik (Turkey) by 4-6, 6-0, 6-0.
- Kaigaoge Kang from China beat Bilal Asim (Pakistan) by 6-2, 6-4
- Dong Hyeon Euom (Korea) beat Amir Mazari (Pakistan) by 6-1, 6-0
- Shijie Chen (China) beat Hamid Israr (Pakistan) by 6-2, 6-4

The competition features a wide field of 48 young athletes, both boys and girls, from around the world. It includes the United States, Hong Kong, China, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Romania, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and Thailand.
All these international nations join 30 rising tennis talents from Pakistan in a show of sportsmanship and competition that crosses borders. The ceremony started yesterday, Feb 21, 2024, at the PTF Complex. Court No.1 was officially renamed Zainan Ali Naqvi Court as a permanent monument to her memory.
The parents of the deceased Zainab traveled from Karachi to attend the ceremony. They were the guests of honor. The former President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, and current PTF President Aisamul Haq Qureshi also attended the ceremony.
