ACB proposed Youth Tri-Series with Pakistan and UAE

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) proposed the Youth Tri-Series between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the ICC. It also discussed holding a bilateral ODI series with South Africa and New Zealand ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 with ICC.

This suggestion of ACB came during an annual board meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Colombo. ACB Cricket Board CEO Naseem Khan and Chairman of the All-Cricket Board, Mirwais Ashraf met with representatives from Cricket West Indies, Cricket South Africa, and Cricket New Zealand to explore the prospects of holding an ODI series before the Champions Trophy.

The ICC leadership and attendees also appreciated ACB and Afghan Atalan’s recent success in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. They emphasized Afghanistan’s incredible performances and their significant role in the growth of cricket and worldwide entertainment.

Meanwhile, ACB CEO Naseem proposed a youth Tri-Series versus UAE and Pakistan. However, its dates and venues have yet to be confirmed. He also discussed his team tour to Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

However, Afghanistan under the captainship of Rashid Khan just shocked the cricket world by winning the T20 World Cup 2024. They advanced to the semi-final and secured their fast-ever-last-four ICC event qualification by defeating teams like Australia and New Zealand.

Afghanistan showed its strength throughout the tournament by playing aggressive cricket, even though South Africa defeated them in a one-sided match in the semi-final.

It holds the second world record for making the 2nd highest scores with 278 in the T20 International. It made this record against Ireland.

Still, it was an incredible breakthrough for Afghanistan despite its brief cricket history since its foundation in 2001. It has 10th ranking in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket as of February 2023.
