UK man jailed for carrying replica Master Sword from games series in public

UK man, Anthony Bray jailed for carrying a replica “Master Sword” from the famous video game series, “The Legend of Zelda” in public. Master Sword is a fictional divine magic sword in The Legend of Zelda series.

Police observed Anthony carrying a 6-inch-bladed sword in public. Warwickshire police officers noticed him on CCTV footage carrying this sword while walking along Queens Road in Nuneaton.

Hence, they followed and arrested him as he came close to them. According to Warwickshire police, the sword had a total blade length of 6 inches. A button on the sheath allowed the blade to be removed as it was kept inside.

Anthony carried this Master Sword on public streets

Anthony revealed he purchased this “fidget toy” sword online to keep his hands busy during police custody. The Fidget toy gives people something to do with their hands when they become bored or nervous.

Hence, he clarified that he carried Master Sword as a fidget toy to pass the time in the streets of a market town in Warwickshire.

Sgt Spellman, the official of the patrol investigation unit, said they take a zero-tolerance policy to blad items in public. Anthony has broken this rule.

He emphasized that you can find fidget toys that do not have six-inch blades. You can’t hold them out in public, as you walk down the street. Anthony could have avoided it if he remained a little more self-aware.

Moreover, he revealed Anthony admitted that the sword might have been considered “threatening” if someone else had seen it. However, he insisted on not using this sword, as a weapon against anyone.

Following this, the Leamington Spa magistrates court jailed a UK man for four months for carrying a replica Master Sword in public. The court also charged him with a victim surcharge of  £154.

A victim surcharge is a penalty that goes to the government’s fund instead of paying the criminal’s victim. The court gave this verdict due to the ignorant behavior of Anthony who could have hurt anyone in public.
