Nintendo to open 1st museum in Kyoto, Japan
Video Game Company Nintendo unveiled it will open its much-awaited 1st museum in Kyoto, Japan in October 2024. This museum will include classic video games and an interactive shooter with Super Mario characters.
The museum lies in a restored historic factory constructed in 1969 in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture. This is where the gaming giant first made Western-style and Japanese playing cards before going on to repair video game consoles.
Video game consoles refer to specialized forms of home computers integrated with video-playing game systems. However, Nintendo also unveiled a video of Super Mario inventor, Shigeru Miyamoto.
Shigeru stated in the video visitors can learn about Nintendo’s dedication to manufacturing which values play and innovation at the Nintendo Museum.
The museum exhibits include a gigantic controller that requires two people to operate and another showcasing old Japanese poetry in addition to the shooting game and some of the company’s original consoles.
Nintendo first revealed its plans for the museum in 2021 to diversify its income sources. Initially, it was supposed to open at the beginning of 2021. But if faced delays due to the pandemic.
Super Nintendo World, the company’s first theme park opened in March 2021 following months of delays. It offers a Mario Kart ride as a part of the Osaka-based Universal Studios complex. Mario Kart ride includes a real-life Bowser’s Castle.

However, Nintendo has revealed today to open 1st museum in Kyoto on October 2, 2024. October and November museum tickets went on sale today. Adult tickets cost 3,300 yen while children’s tickets are less.
The company Ninetno was founded in 1889 as a producer of Japanese hanafuda and also released the TV Game 15 and TV Game 6 home video game consoles in 1977.
Two years after the business started selling its Nintendo Entertainment System console, the Super Mario Bros. games were released.
