American fast food company McDonald’s will use Google Gemini AI (Artificial Intelligence) to provide fresh food to customers in 2024. McDonald’s will be able to utilize generative Gemini AI on large amounts of data to optimize operations.
McDonald’s is collaborating with Google to begin deploying generative Gemini AI in 2024 when thousands of locations will receive hardware and software improvements.
Google and McDonad’s Partnership details
This partnership will involve upgrades to other systems such as ordering kiosks and McDonald’s mobile app. Kiosks refer to small buildings where sweets, drinks, newspapers, etc are sold.
According to McDonald’s, one outcome surely will be hotter and fresher food for customers. It is unclear whether the large language models will serve the large orders of hot fries. There is a prediction of more AI-driven automation will be available in drive-throughs near you in the coming years.
McDonald’s Executive Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer Brian Rice highlights the transformative potential of the partnership. He said connecting our restaurants around the world to millions of data points in our digital ecosystem means tools get sharper.

According to Brian, models will get smarter, restaurants will get easier to run and most importantly, the overall experience for customers and crew will get better.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian emphasizes the commitment of Google through this broad partnership with McDonald’s. He said Google Cloud will help McDonald’s in seizing new opportunities to transform its business and customer experiences. It will empower restaurants worldwide with the latest technologies for immediate impact.
McDonald’s is not sure how AI will be used. But it will include hardware and software upgrades running in-store as well as services provided by Google Cloud. The improved technology would help managers quickly identify and implement solutions to reduce business disruptions.
