Protests erupted after missing PTI leader body found in Peshawar
Massive protests erupted after the dead body of the missing senior PTI leader Yaqub Khan was found in Peshawar. Yaqub had gone missing for several days in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Yaqub Khan is the District Senior Vice President of PTI. However, the deceased family members and party workers have started protests in the aftermath of the Yaqub’s dead body discovery.
They laid his dead body in front of Bab-e-Khyber as part of their protest. The protestors have blocked the Jamrud Bazaar Road and vowed to keep up their protests until Yaqub’s killers are found and arrested.
It is unclear who abducted Yaqub Khan and why he murdered him. It may also be a case of political victimization or more than that. Regarding the recent reports, an investigation is underway to find responsible culprits involved in the murder of Yaqub.
However, protests erupted by Yaqub’s family members and PTI workers after they found the dead body of a missing PTI leader in the Matni area of Peshawar.
In a separate incident, another PTI leader Dr. Shahid Siddique was shot dead at the beginning of August 2024 outside a mosque in Lahore. This fatal shooting incident happened in Valencia Town when he was coming outside of the mosque after offering Friday prayers.
Dr. Shahid was a well-renowned owner of private Iqra Hospital. Unknown gunmen shot four bullets in his chest as he exited the mosque. At first, the murder of Dr. Shahid was considered to be a political victimization case or target killing.
However, the legal proceedings of this murder case turned out to be a domestic conflict last week. Lahore police revealed they arrested two hired assassins in this case.
One of the suspects identified as Shehryar claimed Dr. Shahid’s son, Abdul Qayyum gave them PKR 10.60 million to murder his father.
