Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced 150 buses for Karachi
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced 150 buses for Karachi during his first visit to the city on April 24, 2024. He revealed his decision to distribute 150 buses following a request from Sindh Minister of Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon.
It came during a high-level meeting. Sharjeel Inam Memon had requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to give 300 buses after which he announced to distribute of 150 buses.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said the federal government will give the Sindh transport department 150 buses to add to its existing transport vehicles.
PM Shehbaz toured the Sindh government’s transportation system. He also praised the efforts made by the government to improve public transportation services.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also met PM Shehbaz Sharif during his visit. He informed him about the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project. Pakistan Railways began KCR operations in 1964 to provide transportation facilities to the growing population of Karachi.
CM Murad Ali informed PM Shehbaz that a revised feasibility study was conducted in 2023. They shared with China’s Ministry of Transport and Economic Affairs Division on May 4, 2023, at the recommendation of the federal government.

CM Murad Ali also asked PM Shehbaz to facilitate the framework agreement for the execution of KCR under CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor). Moreover, he asked the prime minister to order the relevant ministry to provide the Sindh government with the “Right of Way” (RoW) of the KCR. RoW refers to the legal right to cross another person’s property.
Following that, the prime minister gave the planning minister instructions to take up the KCR project and remove all obstacles. So that it could be carried out.
PM Shehbaz Sharif held this high-level meeting in the Sindh House of Chief Minister. Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Owais Leghari also attended this meeting.
