Mountaineer Murad Sadpara died on Broad Peak while awaiting rescue
Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara died unexpectedly on his way back from Broad Peak while awaiting rescue. Broad Peak is the world’s 12th-highest mountain located in Gilgit Baltistan.
Murad was in charge of this year’s K2 Cleanup campaign. The Broad Peak Rescue team revealed Murad suffered severe injuries on his return from Broad Peak after successfully climbing it.
Following his injury, the rescue team left the base camp today and arrived at Camp One to recover Murad. Unfortunately, they found him dead in camp.
Several renowned personalities including Maryam Nawaz, Asif Ali Zardari, and Naila Kiani expressed deep condolences at the death of Murad Sadpara. Naila is the first Pakistani woman & overall third Pakistani to climb 11 of the 14 highest peaks above 8,000-metres.
Before the Murads’ last journey to K2’s Broad Peak, he had successfully recovered the dead body of his colleague Hasan Shagri from the highest point of K2. He transported back his body to base camp. Hasan was a mountaineer who had died last year.
Afterward, Murad began another journey to summit K2’s Board Peak with another Portuguese mountaineer. However, nobody knew it would be his mountaineer journey.
However, a Portuguese mountaineer fell sick on their way. So, they decided to head back to base camp. Unfortunately, a tragic moment came when mountaineer Murad Sadpara suffered severe injuries on their way back after a boulder struck his head at Camp One and he ultimately died.

According to rescue reports, Murad’s body has been carried to the Japanese camp and will be moved to base camp by 2:00 pm today. Pakistan Army helicopter will carry him from there to Skardu.
Two more climbers have arrived at the base camp by helicopter. Four members of the rescue crew had left the base camp today at 1 a.m. Murad had brought the dead body of an Afghan mountaineer from K2’s Camp Three last year.
Murad was a 35-year-old mountaineer who spent most of his time climbing mountains in the summers and driving tractors in winter. He left behind a son and three daughters. He made several records in the mountaineering field.
