The matrimonial app is an online marriage application that is becoming more trending internationally where people contact each other to marry. According to PEW, around 50% of people have used an online dating app for potential marriage. PEW refers to public opinion polling.

These apps have darker aspects, including lying, creating fictitious identities to deceive victims, stalking, harassing people, and data privacy issues. Name-calling, indecent picture-sending, stalking, and threats of physical assault are examples of online harassment.

The government of Pakistan has an FIA cybercrime wing to deal with the negative aspects of dating and matrimony apps. Overall, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) needs to regulate these apps to prevent such tragic incidents from happening in the future.
