Imran Khan sentenced to 7 years jail in Nikah case with Bushra Bibi
A senior civil judge, Qudratullah, has sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi 7 years in jail in an un-Islamic nikah case. Qudratullah has also condemned the un-Islamic nikah of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Their nikah is reported to have occurred during the iddat of Bushra when she divorced her ex-husband, Khawar Maneka. In this regard, Judge Qudratullah has declared the nikah of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Shariah-incompatible and sentenced them to 7 years in jail each.
Furthermore, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi have been fined Rs 500,000 fine. Judge Qudratullah passed this verdict at Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is already serving a sentence for both Toshakhana and cipher cases.
The court presided over an illegal Nikah during iddat procedures in Adiala Jail and reserved a ruling. The prior proceedings in the jail witnessed cross-examinations and gave their closing arguments.
Lawyers of Imran Khan cross-examined the key witnesses, including Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband, Khawar Maneka, and Mufti Saeed. As well as Imran Khan’s former collaborators, Aun Chaudhry and Muhammad Latif.
Meanwhile, PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja led the questioning session. Raja Rizwan Abbasi, the lawyer of Khawar Maneka, and public prosecutor Samiullah Jasra also attended this proceeding. It is crucial to note that Khawer Maneka filed this case.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi recorded their statements under Section 342 in court. The Nikah case hearing began at 9:30 a.m. and lasted for 14 hours till 11 p.m.

Furthermore, the court provided Imran and Bushra with a questionnaire with 13 probing questions to further inspect this case. Afterward, Senior Judge Qudratullah reserved his verdict and highlighted the complexity and severity of the case.
However, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sentenced 14 years imprisonment to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhan case for selling state gifts.
Moreover, the special court has already sentenced Imran Khan to ten years imprisonment in a cipher case. It also subjected former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to ten years in jail in the same case. They both have accusations of leaking diplomatic cipher public and violating the Official Secrets Act.
