Imran Khan to be charged in cipher case on Oct 17
The Special Court announces that PTI chairman Imran Khan is to be charged in a cipher case. The court heard the cases under the Official Secret Act to indict Imran Khan and the Vice chairman of PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Oct 17, 2023.
The Judge of the Special Court, Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain conducted the hearing of the cipher case against Qureshi in Adiala Court. PTI lawyer Salman Safdar defended the case of Qureshi. Special prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi also appeared in the court hearing.
During the court hearing, both Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi presented. Khan met briefly his legal team from behind bars.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan remains in jail for more than two months in the Toshakhana case. However, Islamabad High Court (IHC) canceled his jail sentence on Aug 29. But he couldn’t be freed. Because the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) already arrested him in a cipher case from Attock Jail.
FIA registered a case against former Foreign Minister Qureshi under Sections 5 and 9 of the Official Secret 1923 Act. FIA arrested him on the matter of a diplomatic cipher that went missing from the possession of Imran Khan on Aug 19.
The charges against Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and their associates are charges of twisting the facts to obtain ulterior motives and personal gains damaging to the interests of the security of the state causing Imran Khan to be charged in cipher case on Oct 17.
