ISPR claimed that the ex-ISI chief Faiz Hameed is under military custody to face court martial. ISPR refers to Inter-Services Public Relations.

This major advancement comes as part of the military’s internal accountability system. Faiz is facing offensive charges and the Pakistan Army has started the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) process to deal with them.

According to ISPR, the Pakistan Army conducted a thorough court of inquiry to determine whether the accusations made against Faiz in the Top City Case were accurate by the Supreme Court’s order.

Consequently, they have initiated appropriate disciplinary action against Lieutenant (retd) General Faiz Hameed under provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.

ISPR stated that numerous cases of post-retirement violations of the Pakistan Army Act have also been documented. Hence, ex-ISI chief and retired general Faiz Hameed is under military custody to face a Field General Court Martial trial.

The Pakistan Army announced earlier this year to conduct investigations of alleged violations by post-retired generals. This response came from the army after the owner of Top City Society made accusations against Faiz.

The owner of the private housing society’s owner Top City Society filed a petition against Faiz and his allies. He claimed Pakistan Rangers and ISI officials raided his office and residence in society. They allegedly seized valuables including gold, diamonds, and cash in connection with a terrorism case.

According to the petitioner, Faiz’s brother made attempts to settle the issue between Faiz and him in the raid aftermath. Afterward, he spoke with a brigadier and offered to give back some of the stuff that they took during the raid but kept most of the gold and cash.

Moreover, the petitioner claimed that the retired ISI chief forced him into making a large monetary payment and supporting a private television network. He also mentioned the names of other army personnel involved in the affair.
