8 Pakistani hikers and a Swiss foreigner kidnapped in Islamabad
A group of 8 Pakistani hikers including a Swiss foreigner (Switerzland) woman was kidnapped and robbed in Shah Allah Ditta, Islamabad. There were two women; one was from Switerzland among the hiker’s group.
They went for a ride after breaking their fast when they experienced a terrifying misadventure. Five armed men kidnapped, robbed, and tortured 8 Pakistani hikers and a Swiss foreigner (woman).
The hikers became victims of violent crimes committed by gunmen. They held hikers captive for several hours and tortured them to take out money from their ATMs.
The attackers looted 120,000 rupees from Pakistani hikers and $80 (approximately 22,250) from Switzerland woman. They also stole electronic devices including phones, cameras, and watches of hikers.
Armed men held four hikers in custody including a woman and let two others go to withdraw money from ATMs. They also warned them against telling police. Otherwise, they threatened to assassinate their fellow hikers.
The two hikers returned to the crime scene and afterward, they released hostages. Meanwhile, attackers also severely beat hikers including a woman in custody. They struck a lady with a rifle butt and left her fall ten feet down the side of the trail. Hikers sustained head injuries.
One member of the hikers’ group, Kamran Hashmi shared a horrific experience on social media. He advised others to avoid travel to the Shah Allah Ditta region, especially Trail 7. It connects to the area over the hills.
According to Kamran, the crime was well-planned and revealed the involvement of local people because they watched and targeted their group. He also shared pictures of torture in his tweets.

However, hikers survived the terrible event and made it back home. They are still battling the emotional trauma of the horrific incident. This is not the only incident as people have also reported multiple incidents on social media.
Unknown armed men kidnapped a family last month when they were leaving for an iftar gathering at Lavista Resort in Shah Allah Ditta.
When the family’s car tried to escape, the attackers fired at them, seriously damaging the car. Fortunately, they escaped the crime scene unharmed.
