11 family members died after house basement flooded with water in Kohat

11 members of a family died after their house basement flooded with water as a result of heavy rains in the Old Bazid Khel area, Kohat. This tragic incident happened when the victims were forced to sleep in their house basement due to an unexpected inflow of rainfall.

When rescue personnel arrived at the incident place, they found eleven family members dead. They identified dead victims. However, they were still looking for a girl who went missing but they remained successful in finding her later on.

Six children, three women, and two men were among 11 family members who died. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed his condolences over the tragic deaths in the aftermath of violent monsoon rains.

Apart from the deaths of 11 family members based in Kohat, three more people and six received injuries in the past 24 hours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of KP spokesperson reported it.

The catastrophic rains hit the districts of Kohat, Bajaur, Lower and Upper Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, and Swabi. It has caused significant financial losses in these affected areas.

According to the spokesperson, PDMA, district administration, and rescue teams are participating in relief activities in flood victim areas.

These incidents came after the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warned current monsoon conditions may cause flash floods and urban flooding in several places. It issued a high alert that strong monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal can cause heavy rains and flash floods.

According to NDMA, floods may hit multiple locations in Punjab, Azad Kashmir, Sindh, and the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

The authorities warned people to seek refuge in safe areas and to avoid crossing bridges during floods. They emphasized that even a small amount of rushing water can be harmful.
