A well-known TikTok star midwifeMillar claimed she was fired from her job due to her jealous colleagues at the workplace. Lara Basini-Millar, who makes videos under the famous name “midwifeMillar” claimed she was the victim of a “witch hunt.”

She stated a team of midwives had started a WhatsApp group to attack her videos. She has also filed a lawsuit against the North Bristol NHS Trust which fired her unfairly and unlawfully.

Meanwhile, the trust avoided making any statement about firing Lara. It stated that comments would be inappropriate due to the upcoming legal court case.

It is significant to note that Ms Lara began posting videos on TikTok two years ago to help women believe in themselves. She was employed as a midwife at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

She had previously appeared on Channel 4’s One Born Every Minute. Her postings provide helpful guidance on how pregnancy feels and what might happen during delivery.

Lara also spoke on the importance of speaking up if a woman believes that something is wrong or if somebody doesn’t listen to her. She stated she has been that woman, so a lot of advice she gives to women comes from that experience.

She emphasized that her content is safe and aligns with the guidelines. Indeed, it is instructive. It all comes down to the beginning to believe in yourself. Stop doubting yourself; women don’t do that; believe in yourself.

On the other hand, she claimed that the maternity staff of the trust began to raise concerns about her video content. They informed her that her videos were sexual and unprofessional. It damaged the trust’s name even though she mentioned nothing in the videos where she worked.

Later, she learned that some colleagues had made a WhatsApp group where they used to discuss and critique her videos. Even though she had purchased clothes herself which she wore in videos, she was asked to give them to trust.

She remarked clothes belonged to hers and she had to give staff receipts. That is absurd. It seemed like a manager would call her in every week to talk about the videos.

Her manager said he would not let her look after anybody he knew because she is so unprofessional on her TikToks. Following this, Lara realized she could no longer stand constant abuse and hence gave her resignation out of pressure in late 2022.

She mentioned in her resignation letter that she had no fair treatment at Trust. It led to months of worry and stress and forced her to quit the job she had love for.

However, she was a mother of two who needed money. So, she continued working agency shifts at the hospital as she awaited a new job in London.

Suddenly, she received a phone call in March 2023 informing her they canceled her future shifts due to a significant clinical blunder. This way, the hospital administration fired TikTok star midwifeMillar from her job.
