Sarfira Movie Review: Akshay Kumar starring film hit theaters today

This article gives you a complete review of Akshay Kumar’s starring movie Sarfira (2024)- which was released today in theaters. This movie is only concerned with just one thing, the hero (Akshay Kumar).

Though Akshay Kumar appears in almost every frame of the movie. He does not perform anything in Sarfira which he has not done before. He plays the role of a former pilot, Captain Vir Mhatre turned entrepreneur.

In what way can one add drama to a true story without making it a cheesy romance movie in the 1960s? This issue was present in Sudha Konagara’s film “Soorarai Pottru.”

It tells the story of the founding of India’s first low-cost airline. The same issue exists with the Hindi version movie of Soorarai Pottru, Sarfira directed by the same person Sudha.

The opening scene of Sarfira shows a “ladki-wala” group arriving to see Vir Mhatre in a Maharashtra village based on an actual Tamil Nadu village.

Vir finally marries Rani (Radhika Madani). Vir is much older than his wife, Rani. Both are “sarfira” (reckless) in their ways: Rani wants to open her bakery while Vir wants to open his airline at Udipi joint price points so that every Indian can fly.

From this point on, you will witness the two main narratives of the film. The first shows the intensely emotional scenes (Vir’s mother crying and his father yelling).

Another narrative includes comparatively calm scenes where aviation market king Paresh Goswami puts up one obstacle after another in Vir’s path as he moves to full-time entrepreneurship with all of its complexities.

Sarfira shows the struggle of Vir who wants to reach the stars when he has nothing. It is difficult to ignore the obvious age gap between Vir and Rani. However, Vir also appeared to be older than his two army partners who played crucial roles in creating the airline Deccan Air.

However, Vir’s chief rival Paresh manages to come off just as nasty. He appears older than everyone else in the film. Overall, the Sarfira movie review shows it engagingly tells a true story with several twists and turns.
