Kalki AD 2898 trailer released: Science fiction thriller amazes fans

The Vyjayanthi Network has released a much-awaited trailer for the science fiction blockbuster Kalki AD 2898. Nag Ashwin has directed this film.

The first scene of the trailer takes us to the planet of Kashi (Varanasi), which is believed to be the first and final city in history. The evil ruler Saswata Chatterjee is causing chaos in the Kashi city.

Meanwhile, intellectuals hope for a divine force to save them. Amitabh Bachan starred as Ashwattama, predicts that Padma’s womb holds a new power. Deepika Padukone starred as Padma in Kalki.

Hence, Ashwattama does not only saves Padma and her unborn child from Saswata’s evil forces, but the comical Bhairava also saves her. Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, famous as Prabhas starred as Bhairava.

Ashwattama and Bhairava seemed to perform high-energy stunts. We also glimpse Kamal Hassan portraying the negative role of Kali in an unrecognizable bald avatar and Disha Patani fighting Bhairava towards the end of the trailer video. Kamal appeared to declare the start of a new era.

Fans have expressed pleasure at the Kalki AD 2898 trailer and especially praised the performance of Kamal Hassan in disguise as Kali. Kamal is an Indian director, actor, and producer who mainly works in Tamil cinema.

Kalki filmmakers Bollywood shared a teaser last month during a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match between KKR and RCB. The 21-second teaser showed Bollywood Icon Amitabh Bachan with warm earthy tones. He appeared covered in bandages and praying before a Shiva linga while seated in a cave.

Hindu scriptures inspire the story of Kalki AD 2898, happening in a post-apocalyptic world in 2898 AD. It highlights the mythical and terrifying city of Kashi following a journey from Mahabharata in 3102 BC to 2898 AD. It centers on Kalki, the 10th avatar of the Hindu God, Vishnu.

Kalki is the most costly Indian film until today, with a 600 crore budget. It was scheduled to be released on May 9, 2024, but the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections caused a delay. Now, it will hit cinemas on June 27, 2024.
