Former Home and Away actor Johnny Ruffo died from cancer

Australian singer and former Home and Away actor Johnny Ruffo died at the age of 35 as he was suffering from brain cancer.

The news of his death was announced on his Instagram page today. The post captioned we had to say goodbye to our dear Johnny today with a sorrowful heart. Johnny, we all love you and will remember you for all the joy you brought into our lives.

The doctors diagnosed him originally with brain cancer in 2017, and then again in 2020. According to the post, he fought all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a lovely spirit with so much more to offer. Ruffo died with his partner Tahnee Sims and his family by his side.

He last updated his 267,000 Instagram followers on his cancer status in early August. He posted a video montage of his six years in the hospital including the removal of medical staples from his surgery scar. After two months fighting cancer, the youngest singer and former Home and Away actor Johnny Ruffo died from cancer.

Former co-stars pay tribute to Johnny Ruffo

Penny McNamee, his former Home and Away co-star, said that Ruffo was the first cast member she met on the set in Sydney’s Palm Beach. She shared on her Instagram story that he was immediately friendly, funny, and self-righteous. What happiness he provided to the world. Tanner and Johnny’s family and friends have my heartfelt condolences.

While Ruffo’s co-star Georgie Parker described him as “truly one in a million,” “funny, bright, and such a hard worker.

Mel B, a former Spice Girl who was a judge on X-Factor Australia when Ruffo competed in 2011. She stated on Twitter: “My heart just broke.” Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

John Patrick Ruffo was an Australian singer, songwriter, dancer, actor, and television presenter. He was a finalist on The X Factor Australia’s third season in 2011. He became popular for his portrayal of the fictional character “Chris Harrington” in the Australian drama “Home and Away”.
