Punjab govt to provide 20000 e-bikes in easy installments to students
The Punjab govt has planned to provide 20000 e-bikes in easy installment plans to students. The govt of Punjab under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved a plan to provide 20000 e-bikes to students in affordable installments.
The Punjab Chief Minister authorized the proposal during her third cabinet meeting. CM Maryam said e-bikes are essential to reduce pollution. However, they are not recently suitable because of battery theft and low mileage.
She also stated that the government has agreed to supply fuel and electric bikes on easy installment plans. The down payment will be reduced to Rs25,000 to lessen students’ financial burden. However, the monthly installment will also be less than Rs5,000.
This bike distribution will begin in May 2024. Maryam also announced a separate program to provide motorcycles to outstanding performers.
The decision to provide bikes to students in affordable installments was made in response to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s desire to facilitate students. CM Maryam with her father Nawaz Sharif held a meeting about the up-gradation of transport facilities for students in the region.

Top PML-N leaders also decided to introduce relief measures for students including the launch of hybrid bus services. Nawaz Sharif stated the government should keep monthly installment of bikes for students to a minimum cost. Hence, it is the government’s responsibility to lessen the financial burden on students.
Maryam also informed Nawaz of the provincial government’s plan to provide electric bikes to students every month without interest. According to the forum, the monthly installment for a petrol bike would be less than Rs5,000, and for an e-bike, less than Rs10,000.
The Punjab government has designated 70% of the quota for male students. And 30% for female students in villages throughout the province. On this occasion, the Chief Minister directed the schedule for receiving bike applications publicly before Eid.
