Daniil Medvedev withdraws from Rotterdam Open due to injury

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev withdraws from the Rotterdam Open Tennis Tournament 2024 due to fatigue and a foot injury. Daniil is the world’s number three best player.

Daniil lost to Italian player Jannik Sinner by four set matches 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in the Australian Open final last month. This match lasted for 24 hours and 17 minutes at Melbourne Park. However, Daniil defeated Jannik in the Rotterdam final in 2023.

Daniil stated that, unfortunately, he has to withdraw from Rotterdam. After an incredibly tough and long run in the Australia Open, his body especially his right foot, has not recovered enough yet to play and defend his title. He enjoys playing in Rotterdam and has a long history with the event. He looks forward to returning in 2025.

Daniil Medvedev won 20 singles titles on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) tour. He won the Grand Slam titles as the 2021 US Champion and ATP Finals 2020. Apart from this, Daniil has won prize money of $39,301,567. It is the all-time 7th leading earning.

As Daniil Medvedev withdraws from the Rotterdam Open 2024, world number four Jannik Sinner will be the top player at the hard-court Rotterdam tournament. It also features other top players such as Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune, and Hubert Hurkacz.

Daniil Medvedev ranked third with 8765 points. Jannik Sinner has ranked fourth with 8310 points. However, Andrey Rublev has a fifth international tennis ranking with 5050 points. Holger Rune stands at seventh ranking with 3775 points. On the other hand, Hubert Hurkacz has ranked eighth at 3540 points.

However, this tournament will take place from Feb 10, 2024, to Feb 18, 2024, at Rotterdam Ahoy in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. It is also known as ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. This tournament is part of the 500 ATP series.
