Famous American singer James Chance died at 71

Famous American singer, saxophonist, and keyboard player James Chance died at 71. He was also known as James White and one of the significant figures in the music industry of America.

James gained a cult following in the mid-1970s in New York with his unique blend of funk, jazz, and post-punk. His brother David Siegfried confirmed the news of his death.

According to David, James died in New York on June 18, 2024. David revealed that health of James had been deteriorating for several years. However, he did not mention the exact cause due to which famous singer James Chance died.

James was interested in rock and jazz music and moved to New York City in the 1970s to become a jazz musician. However, he felt he did not fit in with the jazz scene and realized his style aligned more with rock.

Following his music passion, James formed a band called “Flaming Youth.” He formed another band, “Teenage Jesus and Jerks,” after meeting another American singer, Lydia Lunch. This band created short songs but had a big impact.

James rose to fame in the late 1970s with his music genre, “no wave movement.” It was different from more modern wave music and traditional punk music. It featured minimalist music with rhythmic sections that made you want to dance.

Teenage Jesus and the Jerks and another James band, Contortions, made up half of the bands on No New York, an album recorded by Brian Eno. It also rose James to skyrocketed heights of fame.
