Young Australian footballer Cam McCarthy died at the age of 29
Young Australian footballer Cam McCarthy, who played for famous clubs Fremantle and GWS Giants, died at 29. The football community is mourning the death of a young player.
According to a statement from Western Australia (WA) police, someone called emergency services to an address in Lake Coogee at approximately 6:15 p.m. on May 9, 2024. Hence, they found him dead upon their arrival.
Australian Football League (AFL) expressed grief at the death of Cam. It released a statement that they are deeply saddened to know young Cam died. Cam was a well-loved person.
Chief Executive of AFL, Andrew Dillon, also sent deepest sympathies and condolences to the entire McCarthy family, friends, and loved ones of Cam.
Simon Garlick is the chief executive of the famous Australian football club Fremantle. He called the death of Cam “tragic.” He also expressed the team’s condolences to friends, teammates, and family of dead players.
Simon stated Cam was a friendly and calm player at the club. He also had a way of making people laugh and smile. He loved his football career, and there was no denying his talent in football.
David Matthews is CEO of GWS Giants. He said the death news of Cam has a deep impact on the club’s present and former players and staff.

It is significant to note that it is unclear how young Australian footballer Cam McCarthy died. WA police consider the death of Cam non-suspicious. However, they said they would compile a report for a coroner to investigate if his death was due to unnatural causes.
The coroner is a public official who investigates whether a person died due to natural causes or if there is involvement of someone else.
However, GWS Giants chose Cam McCarthy with pick 14 in the 2013 National Draft, where he kicked 99 goals in 70 AFL games. After three years, he joined Fremantle in 2016 to score 63 goals in 49 games across four seasons.
