Swedish football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson died at 76

Swedish football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson died at 76 after suffering from long-term illness. Sven-Goran Eriksson is also known as SGE. He died in the morning at home surrounded by his family members.

The deceased left behind daughter Lina, son Johan with his wife Amana, and granddaughter Sky. Former agent of SGE Bo Gustavsson confirmed the news of his death.

SGE was an incredible coach who led Swedish, Portuguese, and Italian football clubs to win major trophies in the 1980s and 1990s. Afterward, he took a coaching job for the England football team in 2001.

He also led England’s team remarkably to the quarter-finals of World Cups in 2002 and 2006 and the 2004 European Championship. Football clubs under his coaching won 18 trophies.

Golden-generation footballers include David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and Steven Gerrard. He managed several high-profile European clubs including Benfica, Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Lazio.

However, Swedish football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson died after suffering from pancreatic cancer for a long time. He said in an Amazon Prime documentary sometime before his death, he had a good life.

SGE thought they were all scared of the day when they died, but life is about death as well. So, he must accept it. He also hoped people would remember him saying “he was a good man.”

But he also emphasized that every person would not say this to him. Still, he wished people remember him as a good person who tried to do everything he could do.

In the end, he said don’t be sorry and smile. He expressed gratitude for everything; and coaches, players, and crowds. SGE called them all “fantastic.” He urged people to take care of themselves and their lives to live it fully.
