PCB to appoint Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie as head coaches
According to media sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to appoint Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie as head coaches. Gary Kirsten is the cricket coach of South Africa while Jason Gillespie is the Australian cricket coach.
PCB will appoint Gary Kirsten for the Twenty20 and One Day International series and Jason Gillespie as red-ball coach for the test matches. Red ball matches are played over a maximum of five days.
The Cricket Board has posted job openings and requested applications on its website through April 15. It will formally announce the decision in the coming days. Once the formal and technical procedures have been completed, they will make an official announcement in the upcoming days.
However, PCB will finalize this before this month’s T20I series against New Zealand. The series will start on April 18th, 2024. This would come after Pakistan’s cricket team’s significant and vital task to compete in the T20 World Cup. It will happen in June 2024 in the United States and the West Indies.

The PCB has also posted a role for an assistant head coach. The job posting states that interested people may apply by April 20. The assistant coach must have three years of experience working with international teams, franchise teams, or domestic clubs in addition to a minimum level II coaching certification.
The change in the PCB setup came in November 2023 when Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick resigned. They resigned due to an appointment to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
Grant Bradburn became head coach of the Pakistan national men’s team earlier this year. However, Mickey Arthur was director of the country’s men’s cricket squad in April 2023. Andrew Puttick, a former cricket player for South Africa, became a batting coach in April 2023.
