PCB rejected FICA’s claims of non-payments in PSL

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected FICA’s (Federation of International Cricketers’ Association) claims of non-payments in PSL. PCB stated there has never been a delay in player payments in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

This statement of PCB came after a report by Cricket’s global players’ union, FICA which reported cases of late or non-payment in numerous major franchise leagues during the previous 24 months.

The Federation of International Cricketer’s Association (FICA) introduced a new “leagues center” yesterday. It aims to help players, their agents, and players’ associations find their way around what FICA called the “Wild West” of global franchise leagues.

According to FICA, one out of every four players had payment troubles in licensed leagues. Hence, they have received reports of payment issues in several large franchise competitions.

These include IPL (Indian Premier League), WPL (Women’s Premier League), and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). In addition, the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Canada’s Global T20, and Major League Cricket. Others include Abu Dhabhi T10, and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Following this, the director of PCB for International cricket operations, Usman Wahla, has rejected FICA’s claims. He denied PSL ever paid players late.

Usman also said there are inaccuracies regarding the PSL in the report of FICA. Hence, he had information of reservations about this written report to FICA. He emphasized that there had been no issues with delayed payments in all nine editions of PSL in the past two years.

PCB explained that the PSL contract requires players to get 70% of their fee within seven days of arriving in Pakistan. However, players receive the remaining 30% within 40 days of their final league match.

PCB had previously denied, that there were any payment issues in the PSL. Even when Australian player James Faulkner quit the 2022 season. He alleged his contract was not being fulfilled.
