Pakistan beat India to reach semi-finals in Asian Team Squash Championship

Pakistan beat India in a thrilling match to earn a spot in the semi-final of the Asian Team Squash Championship 2024 in Dalian, China. Pakistani player Asim Khan gave the national team a lead by beating Indian player Rahul Baitha by 3-0.

However, India’s Velavan Senthikumar pulled the match wave to his side by defeating Nasir Iqbal 3-0. His lead brought the Indian team back into the match. However, Pakistan’s squash team coach, Fahim Gul, revealed after the game that Nasir Iqbal performed poorly due to a fever.

Following the weak performance of Nasir, Noor Zaman of Pakistan came up for his team with the tied score at 1-1 point. He played brilliantly to beat Suraj Kumar Chand by 3-0 and led his team to the next round.

Hence, Pakistan beat India by 2-1 in the quarterfinals and reached the semi-finals of the Asian Squash Team Championship. Following this victory, Pakistan will play Hong Kong in the semifinals. Hong Kong qualified for the semi-finals by beating Iran.

Pakistan squash team coach Fahim Gul expressed happiness and optimism for the team’s performance in the remaining games of this tournament. Earlier, Pakistan played against South Korea, Chinese Taipei, and China in Pool C of the Asian Squash Championship 2024.

Pakistan moved with a strong start in the competition with victories over South Korea and Chinese Taipei. It defeated South Korea by 2-1 and Chinese Taipei by 3-0 on the first day.

However, Pakistan won their entire pool by defeating China 3-0 on June 13, 2024, to reach the quarterfinals of the Asian Squash Championship, where it also beat India.

On the other hand, India is defending the Asian Squash Championship after winning the title in 2022. It happened in South Korea. Pakistan has won 14 times championship titles in the Asian Squash Competition.
