Leon Marchand made history by winning two gold medals in one night

French swimmer Leon Marchand made history by winning two gold medals in one night only in the Paris Olympics 2024. He performed incredibly well by securing two gold medals in the 200m breaststroke and 200m butterfly.

On Wednesday night, Marchand accomplished one of the most daring doubles in swimming history. He won the 200-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter butterfly about two hours apart. His performances fascinated French fans, who applauded him at every turn.

After his win, Leon stated he was a shy person. He became the center of attention during both swimming races. Leon was trying to gain energy from the whole crowd of fans. He praised fans calling them “amazing” who helped him win in every final.

Marchand thrilled the French fans and stole the attention on a night by winning his second and third races at La Defense Arena. He established himself as one of the faces of the Paris Games, with the Olympics only a week old.

In the 200-meter butterfly, Leon was behind Hungarian swimmer Kristof Milák for most of the race. However, he overtook him on the last lap and set an Olympic record time of 1:51.21.

Finally, he beat Kristof by only 54 of a second. His last lap was almost 0.66 seconds faster than everyone else in the swimming race. It was 1.26 seconds faster than Kristof.

Leon defeated Olympic champion and record holder Kristof Milak with a legendary last kick in the 200m butterfly race. However, he secured the second win in the 200 breaststroke without any effort. It took him 2 minutes and 5.85 seconds to touch the line in front of more than 15,000 fans.

However, American swimmer Michael Phelps also made incredible history by winning gold medals apart from Leon Marchand. He won several doubles medals while winning a historic 8 gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
