Joey Barton charged for harmful tweets about broadcaster Eni Aluko

English football manager Joey Barton has been charged for tweets about Nigerian-British football executive and broadcaster Eni Aluko. Joey is scheduled to appear in court later this month for facing charges following his remarks against Eni.

This legal action came to light when Joey Barton claimed on his X account that he had been charged for tweets about Eni. He stated he is up for next month for his malicious communication charge at Warrington Magistrate Court.

He said these are crazy times they are living. The police already have too much on their hands. The British system is heading towards the Banana Republic by using law as a weapon against its own people for speaking out against the status quo.

Joey also emphasized that it has not yet become North Korea, but it won’t work for long. Viva La Revolution (long live the revolution).

However, Cheshire Police said the charges of Joey are associated with tweets sent between January 1 and January 18. He allegedly made some untrue, inaccurate, and defamatory allegations about Eni and her family in now-deleted tweets.

In one of his deleted tweets, Joey belittled Eni by saying her father became a Nigerian Senator with dodgy money. Then, he ran to England where he owned massive wealth with a luxurious house in Wentworth, 3 Rolls Rocey’s.

Since then, Eni instructed lawyers to file a legal lawsuit over Joey’s controversial tweets in January. She claimed she felt scared to leave the house following online abuse in general which Joey triggered on his tweets.

Cheshire Police is also in charge of investigating Joey. The Crown Prosecution Service also charged Joey Barton with online malicious communications.

If Warrington Court convicts Joey for his malicious communication charges, he can face up to two years imprisonment or a heavy penalty.
