IPL fined and suspended Rishab Pant for violating its conduct

Indian Premier League fined and suspended the captain of the Delhi Capitals, Rishab Pant, for violating the IPL Code of Conduct. IPL has suspended Rishab Pant for one match.

This penalty came after the 56th IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. This match happened at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 7, 2024. Delhi Capital’s squad played at a slow over-rate under the captainship of Rishab.

According to a press release from the IPL, they fined Rishab Pant INR 30 lac and suspended him for one match under the IPL’s Code of Conduct. This decision comes in response to minimum over-rate violations.

It also stated it was the third offense of the team Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL season. Hence, IPL said they also fined each remaining player of Delhi Capitals INR 12 lac. Or they will have to pay 50% of their match fees, whichever is lower.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals filed an appeal against the Match Referee’s decision. They filed it under Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The appeal was sent to the BCCI Ombudsman for assessment after that. After holding a virtual hearing, the BCCI declared that the ruling of the match’s referee is still final and enforceable.
