English coach Nicky Butt banned from driving after road crash incident
Blackburn Magistrates Court banned English football coach Nicky Butt from driving for one year after a road crash incident. This court verdict dates back to the October 17, 2022, road incident in Burnley, Lancashire.
Nicky Butt was driving his Range Rover recklessly and hit a motorcyclist named Andrew Filden. As a result of rash driving, Andrew’s leg got broken. He also sustained severe injuries on his body. Hence, he went through major surgery following his broken leg. It required the implantation of rods in his left leg.
Before the court’s verdict, Nicky Butt had already admitted to a charge of careless driving before the court in April 2024, which led to a serious incident.
However, Blackburn Magistrates Court not only banned English coach Nicky Butt for 12 months but also ordered him to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
The maximum penalty for this offense is a year’s jail sentence or an unlimited fine. But the court might have pardoned him due to his guilty behavior regarding the accident. As Nicky stated in court, he could not be more sorry about this incident.

John Dye was a lawyer of Nicky Butt who remarked losing the driving license for his client would have serious consequences. It will be very inconvenient for him and his family to lose his license, but it is the inevitable consequence of this case.
However, Nicky Butt has faced legal lawsuits against him previously. One of those lawsuits came from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in 2020. CPS accused him of beating his then-wife, Shelley Barlow. However, the court discontinued this case after a brief time as CPS could not provide evidence.
Nicky Butt, 49-year-old, is popular as being former Manchester United footballer. He enjoyed a football career for almost two decades, playing for Manchester United and Newcastle. He is currently serving as coach and CEO of Salford City F.C.
