BCCI fined Hardik Pandya Rs 24 lakhs for violating IPL conduct

The Indian Cricket Board BCCI fined IPL team Mumbai Indians and captain Hardik Pandya Rs 24 lakhs. This step from BCCI came after Hardik and other players of Mumbai Indians (MI) kept a very slow over-rate during the match. Minimum over-rate is an offense under the Code of Conduct of IPL.

It was a match between MI and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This match happened at the Bharat Ratna Shri Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow April 30, 2024.

It was the seventh loss of MI while playing with LSG in the ongoing seventeenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Captain Hardik Pandya received a fine of INR 24 lakh, while BCCI fined each player with a penalty of INR 6 lakhs. This fine imposed by BCCI on MI players contains 25% of their salaries.

MI players suffered this setback after having another bad match last night. The opponent team, LSG, chose MI to bat while MI made only 144 runs for seven wickets.

Hardik Pandya left the ground field for the first ball from LSG, making zero runs. However, another key player of MI, Rohit Sharma, did not make a reliable score. Rohit scored only four runs at five balls.

These past few months have been rough for the Mumbai Indians (MI) team, having problems on and off the field. Their problems worsened as their captain, Hardik Pandya, faced trouble with his batting and balling line.

The all-rounder Hardik Pandya has only taken six wickets in ten games. His economy rate has increased to 11. It made things even worse for Mumbai Indians. In cricket, the economy rate refers to the average runs a bowler gives to an opponent batsman over the deliverance of his balls.
