Babar Azam lost number one ICC ODI ranking
The reign of Pakistan Cricket Team star Babar Azam has ended as he lost the number one ICC (International Cricket Council) ODI ranking. Babar Azam was the number one ODI batter.
India’s young batter Shubman Gill claimed the top spot from the captain of the Pakistan team Babar Azam. Gill rises to the top to replace Babar after a strong start to India’s campaign in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
Shubman has become the only fourth player from his country to hold the number 1 ODI batter position after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli. He broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar becoming India’s youngest number 1 ODI batter.
Along with Shubman, Muhammad Siraj has also become the number 1 ODI baller with 709 rating points. Fast Indian bowler Muhammad Siraj rises to the top of the ODI bowlers list following his 10 wickets at the World Cup 2023.
How did Shubman become the No.1 ODI batter?
Shubman contributed 92 scores against Sri Lanka and 23 against South Africa over the previous week. It totaled his 219 runs from the six innings at the World Cup 2023. It gives an edge to Shubman over Babar Azam with a rating point of 830.

Babar has scored 282 runs from eight matches at the World Cup in 2023. He fell six points behind Shubman into second place with 824 rating points.
However, Babar has more than a two-year reign as the world’s top ODI batter. It has now ended with a new record of Shubman. Former Indian team captain Virat Kohli moved from third to fourth rank with the new record of Shubman.
There is a major shift at the World Cup 2023 due to strong performances within the top ten of both batting and bowling ODI lists. It is no surprise that India’s plethora of talents has made the most effect.
