Ahmed Shehzad backlashed Muhammad Rizwan over religious remarks
Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad backlashed wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan over his “Brand Ambassador of Islam” remarks. Ahmed criticized Rizwan for playing religious card in a press conference following the poor team’s performance.
The strong criticism from Ahmed came after Muhammad Rizwan spoke to the media about Pakistan’s disappointing performance at a major ICC tournament. He also expressed his religious views at this conference, which Ahmed found offensive.
Muhammad Rizwan discussed faith and emphasized that every Muslim is a brand ambassador for Islam wherever he goes. He said he believed that each individual represents a brand in two ways. Firstly, he travels the world representing Islam.
Secondly, he represents Pakistan as its brand ambassador. Hence, they don’t give a damn about what people say. This video clip of Rizwan went viral on social media.
Following this, Ahmed Shehzad, who has recently expressed dissatisfaction with the Pakistan team’s performance – backlashed Muhammad Rizwan. He considered the religious remarks of Rizwan as a cover for their bad performance.
He expressed his views on X and wrote it is truly disheartening that several players are using pointless press conferences and a religious card to cover up their terrible World Cup performance.
Ahmed also questioned when people lie about their fitness and acknowledge that they are acting on the field- where does religion go? He also asked Does religion educate you to tell lies and trick people?
He emphasized religion teaches them to do their duty with complete determination and not to lie about their fitness or suffering. Players get paid to perform on the field and join the grouping in the team instead.
Apart from Shehzad, several national and international cricketers have criticized the Pakistan Cricket Team following their embarrassing elimination from the T-20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan lost to the USA by five runs in Super Over Finish and India by six scores. It ended their chances of moving forward in the tournament.
